Restoration

The front elevation of this prominent 15th century property on Burford high street owned by Manfred Schotten Antiques was damaged by a storm in 2017.

Once a scaffolding was erected it became clear that the damage was quite extensive to the front elevation.

The stone slate roofs were completely stripped back to the rafters.

Insulation was then added  in the form of TLX Gold breathable membrane, the roof was then treated with preservative for the prevention of woodworm before being re-laid on treated baton. Cotswold stone slates were then re-laid. New cast-iron guttering was fitted replacing the damaged original guttering. We also fitted a new slate guard to protect pedestrians below. Finally timber repairs were carried out to Sash window heads

on the middle floor to allow new lead-work to be installed.
